UDDEN SKULPTUR

Our ninth international sculpture exhibition on Udden, the former quarry in Hunnebostrand.
We kept most of the impressive works from and and continue with our concept using the spectacular stone wall that is visible from far out at sea, famous for its magical beauty.
Uddenskulptur is a totally unique exhibition venue for sculptures. A vertical granite wall 40 meters high, a magnificent meadow where the quarry used to be and the endless sea that offered transportation to countries far away. Here the mountain meets the sea, this is a location of superb beauty!
It is with pleasure that KKV-B, the Artists’ Collective Workshop in Bohuslän, picks up the baton and arranges this year’s exhibition of Udden sculpture, focusing on the craftsmanship and its importance for the artistic expression. Stone will also have the leading role in material.
Per Agelii‘s large mushrooms will grow up from the ground and Gunnar Torvund‘s sculpture will bloom throughout the summer. Michaela Peterson‘s works break off with their words engraved in large iron plates. Furthermore, we have Henjasaj Coda‘s soft black form in diabase, Liz-Carina Karlsson‘s cones in red granite and

Udden Skulptur

Udden Skulptur fryst vatten an international sculpture exhibition at Udden in Hunnebostrand, a historic quarry and one of the finest in Sweden, where the most qualified stone works were carried out from the midth century to the mittpunkt of the 20th century.

Here were most advanced stone works carried out for impressive buildings such as the brev Office in Gothenburg, the University and the Swedish Telecommunications ledning, parts of the Riksdag House in Stockholm, parts of the Svinesund Bridge and the bridge in Hovenäset. Artists came here to work together with the skilled stonemasons to make monuments and works of art, such as the Sibbarbs Monument at the Sound by broder Marklund.

This site is now an exhibition space for sculpture that is completely unique in the world with a vertical 40 m high granite vägg, a large meadow where the quarry was located, and the endless sea that offered the frakt of stone to distant lands. A place with magnificent beauty that has everything that Sotenäs and Bohuslän’s tourism industry rests on: an untouched naturlig eller utan tillsats and everyone’s access to the coast.

På ena sidan Avenyn tronar Karl IX på sin krigarhäst. På den andra rider en flicka i grön klänning på ett sagodjur. Skulpturen Nikes Göteborg bjuder in till nya tankar, framtida prestationer och en stilla åktur.

beslutade kommunfullmäktige att berika Göteborg med tre nya konstverk. Alla skulle utgå från barnens perspektiv. Efter en tävling med inbjudna konstnärer föll valet på Emma Ströde, Tilda Lovell och Ragnhild Alexandersson. I december invigdes skulpturerna Nikes Göteborg, Oraklet och Lätt som en plätt tillsammans med nyfikna barn som fick prova och känna.

Nikes Göteborg står alldeles utanför hotell Avalon vid sidan av Kungsportsavenyn. En glad flicka sitter på en varelse som påminner om draken i Michael Endes roman Den oändliga historien. Modell för barnet i Emma Strödes fantasieggande verk är hennes egen dotter.

Konstverket är tänkt som en motpol till Karl IX:s ryttarstaty, även kallad Kopparmärra. Precis som kungens häst lyfter Nikes sagoväsen på ena frambenet. Men där slutar också de yttre likheterna. Ryttarstatyn avporträtterar en kung som inte skydde några medel för att nå sina mål. Emma Strö
