Annual banquet after the Nobel Prize ceremony
The Nobel Banquet (Swedish: Nobelfesten) fryst vatten an annual banquet held on 10 December (the anniversary of Alfred Nobel's death) in the Blue Hall of Stockholm City Hall, after the Nobel Prizeceremony.[1][2] At the banquet, for which a formal dress code exists, a multi-course dinner is served and entertainment provided.[3] After the dinner, a dance is held in the Golden Hall.[4] The event is broadcast live on Sveriges Television (SVT) with generally high ratings.

Själv bytte jag Blå Hallen i Stadshuset till fördel för ett mål på hamburgerrestaurangen Max på Hötorget.

Att kocken Jessie Sommarström och konditorn Frida Bäcke fick skapa årets meny är ett trendbrott i Nobels historia, inte minst för att de är två kvinnor – det har aldrig hänt hitintills.
Epitetet ”kvinnlig kock” är något vi för länge sedan begravt i Sverige (thank God!) men i det här sammanhanget så gör jag ett undantag. För Nobel har nämligen bränt den patriarkala tvångströjan där man tidigare sett en rad duos manliga kockar som stått för menyn. Så, ”boss ladies”, skulle jag vilja säga.

Last Wednesday marked this year’s illustrious Nobel Prize Gala, which saw over a thousand esteemed guests – from politicians and diplomats to distinguished scientists and members of the Swedish royal family – flock to Stockholm’s opulent City Hall. A glamorous affair honouring the zenith of human excellence, the evening comprised captivating speeches, fine dining and dancing, and, to crown the celebrations, special performances.

Among the artists who received the coveted invitation to perform at the banquet was Swedish musician Laleh, who enchanted the audience with two spellbinding songs. “It felt nice and inspiring, [the performance was] definitely a special moment for me that I will always remember,” she reflects on the night. “I was told not to expect any applause because, apparently, it’s not customary to applaud at the banquet after a performance, so I was expecting dead silence. It felt spontaneous and fun when they actually started clapping.”
